Today as we were headed to the doc, a woman made a comment about how hard it must be to carry such a big baby. She was a very sweet lady and we kidded about how large he is for his age. We then got on the subject of walking and how he has yet to take his first steps. Honestly, I'm ok that he is going to be a late walker. They say that you shouldn't worry until they get to 18 months, so we have 3 1/2 to go! Anyway, this nice lady decided to give me some sage advice about how to speed along the process. You see, according to her, I simply need to, "wash him in dirty dish water". Yes, you read correctly. She actually suggested bathing him in some spaghetti, casserole (or fill in the blank with whatever you like) water. Now, why on earth didn't I think of that? It makes complete sense, right??? :)

Kelly, Kelly, Kelly... stop talking to street bums!!!
Huh???????? Did she offer any explanation?
Yes, what was her reasoning? How bizarre!! Assuming there are no problems, the research I've read is positive when it comes to late walking. Nothing negative. There aren't any benefits to early walking, at least from what I've read. =)
I was actually saving that one for when he's 2 and not walking - ha! She just beat me to it!
Maybe you won't want to pick him up if he's dirty, slimy and smelly and he'll have to walk! :)
Surely she didn't mean to "throw the baby out with the wash"????
people are strange!! unsolicited advice is bizarre, but then add to it the QUALITY of advice?!
Z was a late walker too. It is hard for them to put 30 lbs on little legs. plus, it depends on their personality and how agressive they are.
