tv

I wish my child watched more TV. I know, that sounds horrible, but let me explain. Cameron is not a huge fan of TV in general. He'll watch one Baby Einstein and this Little Brown Bear video my mom got him, but that's it. He typically only watches one show a day, but I would like for him to have a little more variety to choose from when I put one on. He isn't too interested in the more complex cartoons. Complex meaning they have lots of stuff going on (Wiggles, Dora, etc.). He more likes super simple shows (he seems to kind of like Max and Ruby). I would love any suggestions on simply pictured cartoons for him (hope that makes sense!). Do you know of any?

not really knowing Cameron, I am not sure if these are appropriate, but there are the ones I have found my kids have loved.

Signing Time (great for learning sign language)

TV show called, "Hi-Five" (not sure what channel it is on, but you could search it out on your tv)

Boz the Bear

Veggie Tales (although the episodes can be a little fast)

Super Why- it's on PBS, I think, and it is really great! Slow, enteractive, and always uses a story in the cartoon.

Anyway, not sure if that will help at all, but just wanted to give you some of our favorites.

Heidi - what was the one you and Elijah were watching together when Elijah was trying to say "dog" I think? That looked pretty slow-paced.

Heidi - (forgot to say that it was in the video that you posted recently in your Elijah post) ..... ??

You know... that was from our Verizon On Demand... not sure if it is available on regular tv, but it was a channel called Lifeskool- great videos and slow paced learning videos. I almost forgot about that one- thanks Susan.

By the way there's nothing wrong with you're wishing that Cam would watch for a little longer. From what I remember, he wouldn't watch for more than maybe 1 minute. So entertaining/playing with him for 11-12 hours a day makes for a LONG DAY! Nothing wrong with getting a little help from Baby Einstein or whomever (if he'll have it!)

The girls love Boz too, but I think it might be a little too busy for Cam. The thing that Elijah was watching looked good to me, Kelly - maybe you can see if you have that channel.

There are some Baby Einstein videos that my kids still love. Baby Newton (about shapes) and Baby Shakespeare (words) and World Animals.

On actual TV, my kids still love sesame street too. They also love Mickey Mouse clubhouse.

My kids have taken to reading books online at starfall. they sit on my lap and we read the book together, and if you click on the characters on the pages, sometimes they'll do funny things, and they love it. its like a book coming to life.

Kelly, I can't remember if I shared this with you or not, but I have Andrew watch 'Baby Babble' several times a week. It's a video that's similar to Baby Einsten videos, but it was developed by two speech pathologists and it's designed to promote speech development.

Andrew watched it for months w/ making any attempt to sound out the words/sounds they were saying, but just recently he's begun trying almost every one. And he knows what his show is too - he says 'ball' when I put in the DVD because the very first scene is of a ball spinning around. :)

Hope that helps!
