mcdonald's bias

I've never liked McDonald's. I always have this yucky feeling when I think about eating there with the exception of their ice cream and parfaits. Anyway, Chris and I have gone a few times after our morning walk to get parfaits for breakfast. It is a nice outing, not to mention cheap. But take a look at this McDonald's. Looks more like the inside of a Starbucks, huh? It is relatively new and located over toward a retirement community, hence the classy atmosphere and lack of a play area. It is such a nice place to go in the morning and I love that you don't feel like you are in a McDonald's.

p.s. I realize there is no logic to my hatred. I like hamburgers and would gladly eat one at Carl's Jr. or any other fast food. I think my bitter feelings stem from back when I was a kid. I distinctly remember asking my mom for a hamburger without pickles or ketchup. For some reason back then, they must have had them pre-made, because you couldn't request them without an ingredient. So I learned to never eat there because I didn't want to be forced into eating pickles and ketchup! I guess the bitterness stuck with me.

Wow--that IS classy-looking McDonalds.

Yeah, back then the only fast food place that let you "make exceptions" was Burger King which had a big ad campaign called "Have it YOUR way."

I remember that about the hamburgers..and my mom would take the pickle off for me but it still always left that nasty flavor! ..thats exactly what i always remember about mcdonalds so it does just leave bad memories - although i do have to say they seem to be stepping it up a bit. especially with thier new coffee drinks and i heard they are going to start making mcdonalds like the one you go to all over

I cannot remember the last time I ate at Mc Donalds to have anything other than their ice cream sundaes! Those are REALLY good and only $1! I remember someone claiming to have found something disgusting in a hamburger while we were at ACA, Kelly. I think that's what turned me off to them!

Wow, nice! I've heard of them being nice like that in some places with fireplaces and free wifi and stuff, I've just never seen a nice one like that!

Sounds nice...except, does that mean they'll be taking away all their playgrounds? That part's a bummer.

my friends all make fun of me and call me white trash because I LOVE McDonalds!!! I've never had discriminating taste buds and now it's just become another thing that people tease me about. ha ha!

For years I would never eat there. Wouldn't even eat a burger. Until we moved to Germany and I got pregnant and craved MEAT. COW, COW, GIVE ME MORE COW!!! And McDonalds is the only burger place in town here. So I became a fan.

If you would have told me I'd enjoy eating McDonald's burgers 6 years ago, I would have rolled over in my grave - if I had been dead.

That tiny little shrimp of a pickle does crack me up though!

Oh I have to add that the playground (ours here just has a slide) makes a trip allllll worthwhile.

We don't eat at McDonald's anymore. We used to ,just to get to go out to eat! It was cheap!!My BEST memory of a trip to McDonald's was when Ross was about 4 or 5 yrs.old and I was at the counter ordering. He came up and poked me on the arm and said mom I think I could really handle a Big Mac!! I said oh is that so! He knew he was just about to get ANOTHER happy meal! I got him the Big Mac and guess what he ate every bite! Plus the french fries! He never got another happy meal again! It was the cutest thing you have ever seen. He was so serious!!! As he got older he wanted to eat at home. Mashed potatoes and noodles were alot more filling! I really enjoy reading your blog. your son is darling! Chris , I hope all is going well with you and your family. We are now an empty nest! It's not much fun. We have had so many kids around and all of their friends and now all the action has stopped. I guess I'll get used to it eventually. Everyone needs to move on. The kids all need to have their own life!! I am watching my grandchildren everyday and that helps alot! I guess I'm still needed! you take care and I will keep up with you and your family on your blog! Make sure you check out Ross's sister's blog. the sweetsix. Sandy
