karate

Today I stopped by a local music store to check out how much lessons would be for Cam. We want to get him involved in some sort of activity, but have decided against music. I know there has got to be gobs of things for young kids to enjoy out there (that don't cost a fortune). Dr. Laura always talked about how great karate/martial arts was for kids, especially when it came to building good self esteem. I'm thinking of looking into this, but would love other ideas that your kids, or kids you know have done. :)

Most local places for karate are running $40-$50 a month plus uniform. Unless you go through the ones at the schools which is sort of a joke they give out belts all the time and its not realy run like a traditional studio. If you are in the charter school I know a place in Yucipa has discounts for that because you are a charter school parent so you may want to look at that angle.

I believe you said he got in at the charter. They will have a whole list of activities that you can use through them and get a small discount.

It is hard sports and activities are expensive! Swimming costs us $230 just for monthly payments, and insurance costs. Then we have to add in snack bar donations and gas mileage. You can also check with parks and rec they have a few things that are a little less expensive. For example Aubree took dance at a local studio and they raised thier prices for this year another $10 a month which made it $45 a month. We are looking at hula instead which will only be $30 and no $50 costumes!

Send me an email and I can get you a few things and how much they cost. We did this with Breven last year and now with Aubree so I know a lot of buisnesses and the costs involved even the hidden costs!
