scratch your dirty neck

When we were kids and one of us would prove the other wrong, my sister and I would say, "So scratch YOUR dirty neck!". I know we didn't just make this up, but I'm not sure where it came from. Over the years I've introduced the phrase to my friends and it has become somewhat of a joke. Another similar phrase that was my sister and I's creation was, "Mided!!". It stems from "moded", which I think many of you probably used as kids. Don't ask me why we changed it. :)

I'd like to go ahead and use the phrase on my sister right now. She claimed that by me keeping all of my old emails in my inbox (they actually go back to 2006), I am slowing down my computer. I disagreed. So I asked my computer savvy husband, and turns out I'm right. You see, Susan, with free email (like yahoo), all of your emails are stored on their server, which they hold and control. I am simply reading my emails off of their server...not storing them on my computer. So scratch your dirty neck!

One other thing I have been able to say this about regards rice. Back in college, my roommate and I disagreed on the proper cooking method of rice. She claimed that you had to follow the instructions, which stated you couldn't lift the lid before the rice was done, otherwise it wouldn't turn out. I don't know a time that I have NOT lifted the lid. I do every time just to see how it is coming along. And my rice is perfect every time!! So you are mided Cheryl!! :)

Lastly, the jury is still out on this and maybe some of you can help out. This again involves my sister and I. She maintains that it isn't good for a microwave to open it mid-heat. I maintain that it is fine and that is why the clock keeps the time remaining for you so you can pop it back in if need be! If it wasn't, wouldn't it put you back to 0, so you would have to start over???

while your rice may be edible, sadly you miss out and are obviously even unaware of how far better quality your rice would taste if you did not lift the lid and let out all the steam which makes the rice all the more fluffier and more superior to steamless rice.

I am not backing down on my stance.

I am laughing really hard right now! I think you BOTH are right: if I had the patience to wait it out and not open the lid, I believe the rice would be fluffier. However, opening the lid doesn't ruin the rice and I wouldn't say it's BAD, just maybe not as fluffy! See, I can see both sides! :)

I've never heard of this rice thing, so I can't comment on it...BUT, on my microwave, I HAVE to open it during the defrost cycle as it beeps at me to turn items over! Crazy, huh?!

PS - love your hair!

Well, I'd never heard of "Scratch your dirty neck" until you two started using it. But I just looked it up on urbandictionary.com:

"scratch your dirty neck:

This is basically the coldest dis to someone who has just been moded (molded)- proven very very wrong.

aaw. I TOLD you the Beastie Boys signed to Capitol. Scratch your dirty neck!!!!"

From the very first time you dropped "scratch your dirty neck" into a conversation I was convinced you and your sister had made it up so this blog posting pushed me to find out for sure. I GOOGLED it too, and was SURPRISED to find it!

So... "scratch my dirty neck"???? :)Ana

Okay, you never said you use YAHOO, monkey. OF COURSE it won't slow your computer down. Just if you use "Outlook" or something like that. So I was NOT wrong. There is no scratching going on over in this house.

I don't know how you can stand having years' worth of emails in your Inbox though!

I think Cheryl is mided with the rice thing. BUT I do hear it's really important never to lift the crock pot top.

And I just KNOW that the microwave-door-opening-mid-session thing is unhealthy. I feel it in my soul.

How could you people never have heard of the "scratch your dirty neck" phrase??? That was an elementary school classic! A stand-by!!!
